KME Steelworks have been a Precast Concrete Mould Manufacturer for over 35 years. All steel moulds are 3D Cad designed and manufactured in-house. Emphasis is on ease of use with fast strip down and assembly to maximise product output. We pride ourselves on finding sensible practical solutions to the challenging problems encountered during steel mould design.
Either steel mould design offers great versatility permitting the cost effective creation of adjustable bays with uses in many storage applications including aggregate, recycled materials, silage and much more. KME have designed and manufactured numerous free standing wall moulds in many different configurations. KME’s experienced team work closely with our customers and can use their extensive knowledge to provide a bespoke steel mould to meet the specific requirements of an individual project.
All moulds use course thread self-centring bolts for ease of assembly and disassembly. These also ensure repeatable positioning accuracy and provide long life use.
KME can design and manufacture Bunker A Wall Moulds to meet customer’s specific requirements. Standard bunker A wall moulds are available in various heights ranging from 1500mm to 3500mm. For ease of product removal, the KME bunker steel moulds are designed with easy opening side and end sections which run on bearing units.
KME can also supply stoppers to allow more than one wall height to be produced from the same steel mould. Corner inserts are available to enable the production of corner units. Provision for forklifts can also be added as either two individual fork pockets or a single large pocket depending on the customer’s requirements. There is also an option available to have a solid base with recessed fork pockets situated at the bottom of the A wall mould.
KME manufacture and supply L wall steel moulds for a wide range of applications. L wall moulds are available in various heights ranging from 1500mm to 6000mm. KME can also supply stoppers to allow more than one wall height to be produced from the same steel mould. Corner inserts are available to enable the production of corner units.
Moulds are available either as a single or a space saving double steel mould. For ease of product removal, the KME L wall moulds are designed with easy opening outer sections which run along bearing units.
KME have the ability to design and manufacture a number of stair steel moulds in many different configurations to meet the needs of our customers. The team of experienced design engineers have a wealth of knowledge and work closely with the customer to ensure that the steel mould they received is ready for use. Particularly suited to the construction industry KME have produced many different types of stair moulds and are currently working on a new project the Adjustable Stair Caster steel moulding. This steel mould aims to produce adjustable stair mouldings capable of manufacturing concrete stairs within a range of parameters for tread height and depth whilst incorporating the use of hydraulics. KME’s Steel stair moulds can be made for stair flights and landings or can be designed and manufactured as a complete stair flight moulds with attached landings.
For projects with several different flights of stairs we can offer a mould base frame onto which interchangeable stair cassettes can be fixed. The cassettes can also be reversible to allow for both right and left handed precast concrete products to be produced from the same steel mould. This type of mould provides complete flexibly for the customer and maintains steel mould cost to a minimum. KME can also design and manufacture unique moulds for specialised stair systems such as spirals. Stair moulds can be designed to be filled from the side, face down as well as other options in order to produce the required finish.
KME’s pedestrian barrier steel moulds are suitable for a wide range of applications. Some of our Jersey barrier moulds have been used in the productions of temporary road blocks, protection of vacant sites, channelling traffic, car park boundaries and much more. KME produce standardised DB80 concrete barrier moulds and can also design and manufacture bespoke Jersey barrier moulds to meet a specific project. KME steel barrier moulds can come with Provision for forklifts and can be either two individual fork pockets or a single large pocket depending on the customer’s requirements.
KME have designed and manufactured box culvert steel moulds that have been used to produce products in many different applications ranging from underpasses to service ducts. KME’s experienced team work closely with our customers providing both standard and bespoke culvert moulds to meet our customer’s specific project requirements. We design and manufacture a modular mould that allows a high degree of flexibility. The steel mould is made up of easy release tapered corner sections, internal and external wall sections and top and bottom formers. This design allows us to provide additional sections when required for new projects. We also have the capacity to manufacture single and double culvert moulds.
KME’s standard culvert steel moulds range in size from an internal width of 1000mm to 2500mm, and internal length of 100omm to 5000mm and height of 1500mm to 2000mm. However, we can design a steel culvert mould to suit a specific application.
KME have designed and manufactured numerous gang moulds for a wide range of products including wall coping, post moulds, pillar caps mouldings, sills moulds or a combination of these products. The gang moulds range in size from 4m x 1.5m to 6m x 1.5m and can be made for a range of different concrete machines. KME also manufacture a range of emptying pallets for the curing of dry cast products after demoulding. If the required gang steel mould is for a nonstandard product, then KME’s experienced team will work closely with our customers and can provide a bespoke steel mould to meet the specific requirements.
The number of coastal projects in the UK and Ireland is increasing as an attempt is made to reduce the risk of flooding and control costal erosion. KME have designed and manufactured sea defence moulds for several projects throughout the UK and Ireland. Each project has been very different and has required our team of design engineers to work closely with our customers to design a steel mould that meets their specific defence project. Each project has had its own unique challenges with varying sizes of sea defence moulds. KME’s team of design engineers have designed full sets of sectional wave wall moulds that are capable of being reconfigured to suit the various sections of a sea defence project. This has reduced the overall number of steel moulds required for a project and provided the most cost effective solution for our customers.
KME have designed and manufactured a wide range of headwall steel moulds for use at pipeline outfalls. Our moulds range in size, starting from a 400mm diameter pipe up to our largest steel mould capable of producing a headwall for a 2600mm diameter pipe. All moulds can be supplied with an interchangeable former to allow several different diameter headwalls to be produced from a single steel mould. In addition, the steel mould can be designed to have removable wingwall sections thereby allowing the wingwall slope to be varied. These options offer both flexibility as well as a cost effective mould design for our customers.
Steel moulds up to 1000mm diameter pipe are designed to produce a one-piece headwall, for larger pipe diameters a two-piece sectional steel mould is supplied to permit the production of the headwall as left and right sections with a rebated central joint. KME’s experienced team work closely with our customers and can supply bespoke headwall steel moulds for a specific project. We can design a steel mould to a specific wall thickness, pipe diameter and wingwall angle. We also have the ability to design a headwall mould that will allow the pipework to enter a watercourse at an angle.
KME design and manufacture a range on Lego Block steel moulds for stackable interlocking concrete blocks. Our KLego block moulds come in a range of sizes including both standardised as well as bespoke made to measure. The KLego block moulds are fitted with interlocking studs which allows the casted product to be stacked accordingly. For ease of product removal, the KME KLego moulds are designed with easy opening outer sections which run along bearing units.
